Frazzled Cafe is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, that provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet on a regular basis to talk and share their personal stories.
We run our free meetings online every single day of the year for anyone who needs them, and anyone can book and be included to talk, share, listen and to feel heard.
We are seeking Maternity Cover for this exciting role which plays a key part in delivering Frazzled Cafe’s programme.
The key responsibility of this role is to work with the CEO to lead the on the organisation’s training and programme, working with staff and volunteers to achieve our objectives and fulfil Frazzled Cafe’s mission.

A large part of the role is to lead the recruitment, training and support of our fantastic volunteer network who run all of our meetings every day of the year, but also to be creative and be able to see how processes or programmes could be improved with the public’s interests and wellbeing at the forefront.
Main tasks
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of the meeting and training programmes; ensuring we recruit committed and able volunteers who respond positively to the training schedule
- Build and implement a future-proofed programme strategy to ensure there is capacity for growth for the charity
- Continually looking for new opportunities for programme improvement and evolution via partnerships, fundraising, training development and marketing
- Develop databases to hold all volunteer data including the tracking and performance of the programmes
- Work with our Fundraiser around new ideas and implementation of new projects i.e. helping to seek funding for regional hubs, recruiting local Facilitators and launching face to face regional meetings
- Responsible for the end-to-end recruitment, including shortlisting, interviewing, assessing, observing and feeding back with support from Project Support and Administrative Officer
- Ensure all volunteers receive appropriate Frazzled Cafe standard training, supervision and ongoing support
- Finding innovative ways to attract and recruit for volunteers during economically pressured periods
- Observe all volunteers on a quarterly basis, record and provide constructive feedback for development
- Continually seek ways to improve our programme offering and quality that we provide by upskilling volunteers or introducing new initiatives or training (internally or externally) as necessary
- Investigate and respond to any external complaints thoroughly and with tact
- Have confidence in letting go of volunteers if the role is no longer fulfilling its objectives or there are performance related concerns
- Act as point of contact for all escalation matters regarding volunteers and programmes from project support officer
- Overall responsibility for ensuring that all meetings are scheduled and delivered in a consistent manner
- Work with and support the Project Support and Administrative Officer with data analysis
- Bringing cost effective ideas around the marketing of the charity externally to increase the public’s awareness of what Frazzled Cafe offers.
People Management:
- Day to day management of Project Support and Administrative Officer with the CEO
- Delegation of tasks as appropriate
- Supporting programme staff with development and upskilling opportunities, proofreading and training
- Point of contact and for escalation regarding the Programmes
Other:
- Participation in other projects/initiatives as required as a core member of the management team
Person Specification:
- Experience in end-to-end recruitment of staff and/or volunteers
- Experience in coaching and mentoring of staff and/or volunteers
- Experience of training new members of staff and/or volunteers
- Experience of facilitation
- Will have attended at least four Frazzled Cafe meetings ahead of interview
- Experience with difficult conversations and giving constructive feedback
- Able to influence and negotiate at all levels
- Experience analysing data and understanding its impact
- Innovative and enjoys having ideas
- Pragmatic, project management approach to work
- Excellent attention to detail and a positive, can do attitude
