Job description

The successful candidate is expected to: Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence-based practice Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of post-operative patient care Prepare the recovery in readiness to admit patients after surgical procedures Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Lead immediately. Recovery Practitioners are expected to demonstrate and practice these key values. You will be expected to deliver information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results. This will include when working or liaising with other departments. Management duties and responsibilities To work with other Recovery Staff to ensure that the Recovery unit is managed appropriately All Regular checks are undertaken of equipment, trolleys and medications. Recorded and signed.
That all issues and concerns are proactively managed and communicated to the Theatre LeadPatient Pathway Planning Able to demonstrate good recovery practice and patient care, ensuring dignity and confidentiality is maintained. Ability to competently care for patients according to their pathway identifying any deviations needed. Recording all care and changes with appropriate reasoning. Document all instructions for post-operative care Administer medication as prescribed or required.
Communicate with patients Anesthetist and Surgeon as and when necessary regarding Patient Care. Communicate and reassure patients as required. Ability to identify when a patient is ready for discharge from recovery Monitoring and Reporting Be able to identify all key monitoring required for each individual patient and the procedure that they have received. Record in the patients notes with date and time Identify issues and be able to raise an incident report where necessary.
Communicate with Theatre Team Lead on a regular basis to ensure the smooth running of the recovery unit. Monitor any DDA medication, record and sign for.
