Job description

What we are looking for:

Job Title:Theatre Scrub Practitioner

Department: Theatres

Hours: 37.5 hours a week – Early and Late shifts with On-Call Participation

Shift times: Early: 07:00-15:00 & Late: 13:00-21:00 x5 per week (longdays are unavailable)

Salary: £42,848

Contract: Permanent


Role Summary:

The Theatre Scrub Practitioner is a crucial member of the surgical team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role demands a combination of clinical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment. The Theatre Practitioner will specialise in a range of surgeries including Gynaecology, Urology, General, ENT, Plastic, Breast, and Orthopaedic surgeries, contributing to the successful outcomes of these procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Scrubbing for a diverse range of surgeries including Gynaecology, Urology, General, ENT, Plastic, Breast, and Orthopaedic procedures.
  • Ensuring the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field during surgical procedures.
  • Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and surgical success.
  • Contributing to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current registration and relevant experience.
  • Specialised experience in one or more of the following surgical areas is preferred: Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Breast Surgery, and Orthopaedics.
  • Sound knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to the dynamic environment of surgical theatres.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
