Job Title:Theatre Scrub Practitioner – Urology

Department: Theatres

Hours: 37.5 hours a week – Early and Late shifts with On-Call Participation

Salary: £41,886.45

Contract: Permanent

Role Summary:

As a pivotal member of our Theatre department, you will be at the forefront of urological surgeries, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our patients. From maintaining a pristine sterile environment to collaborating closely with a talented surgical team, your expertise will be the key to success.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Scrubbing and Circulating:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field during urological surgical procedures, demonstrating meticulous attention to aseptic techniques.
  • Circulate within the operating room to provide support to the surgical team, anticipating and fulfilling their needs.

2. Urology Expertise:

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in a wide range of urological procedures, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of surgical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in urological surgery.

3. Instrumentation and Equipment:

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of urological surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure the availability, functionality, and proper care of instruments required for urological procedures.

4. Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other members of the surgical team to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Maintain effective communication to enhance teamwork and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

5. Patient Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the well-being and safety of patients throughout the perioperative process, ensuring a patient-cantered approach.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families during the perioperative journey.

6. Adherence to Protocols:

  • Adhere rigorously to hospital policies, protocols, and guidelines to maintain the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection control.
