As a Theatre Technician support you play a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the safe and efficient retrieval, management, and record-keeping of used sterile equipment from the operating theatre.
Your responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, and sterilizing surgical instruments and maintaining accurate inventory records.
Your attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and organizational skills are essential in maintaining a smooth workflow within the healthcare facility.
Safely enter the operating theatre post-surgery to retrieve used sterile
equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Ensure adherence to all infection control and sterile procedures while
entering and exiting the operating theatre.
Handle used equipment with care to avoid contamination or damage.
Transport equipment to the designated cleaning and sterilization area
using appropriate procedures and equipment.

Carefully disassemble, decontaminate, and sort used equipment for
proper cleaning and sterilization processes.
Handle surgical instruments with precision to prevent damage and
maintain their integrity.
Properly label, record, and document all retrieved equipment to maintain
accurate records for inventory control and tracking purposes.
Transport the used equipment to the decontamination area or
sterilization unit following established protocols.
Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including the use
of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand hygiene.
Report any breaches of infection control procedures or potential
contamination immediately to the supervisor.
Assist in the cleaning and decontamination of used equipment as per
departmental policies and industry standards.
