Job description

Bank Support Worker

Nickleby Road, Chelmsford

£12.09

Hours as and when required

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

If you are looking for a role where no two days are the same with the opportunity to make a real impact to the lives of our customers, we would love to hear from you!

We’re seeking an experienced and supportive Bank Support Worker to join our small, well-established, team at Nickleby Road to provide housing related support to our customers.

We provide support for adults with learning disabilities, through short-term accommodation and support to help build independent living skills. We’re a national award-winning service and pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality service to our customers.

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

Sanctuary also offers a great employee rewards scheme, where you will be able to receive a variety of discounts from major retailers.

The position of Support Worker is referred to internally at Sanctuary, as Project Worker.

The role of Bank Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans and signposting access to education, training, and employment
  • Supporting customers in their day to day living i.e., with cooking and cleaning
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Completing health and safety checks within the service
  • Safeguarding customers and advising them how to keep themselves safe and who to report to in times of concern

Skills and experiences:

  • You will be flexible, resolution focused, and have a passion for working with customers with disabilities
  • You will be a team player but also have the initiative and ability to work on your own to provide housing related support to our customers
  • Our ideal candidate has, or is willing to undertake, NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing you to build strong working relationships
  • An understanding of occupancy agreements and housing management services
  • Good IT Skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Why work for us?

We’re united in working together to help customers on their pathways for independence, and our people are the single, biggest influence on our success.

No matter your job – delivering support directly or working in our offices to support our frontline teams – your work makes a difference every day.

We won the West Midlands Care Employer Award 2022-23, in recognition of our commitment to our staff and supporting our teams to be their best. We’ve also been awarded Investors in People Gold status for the second time – because we value our people and have a strong focus on inclusion, teamwork, and empowerment.

We’re committed to providing an inclusive and supportive work environment where you can grow and thrive. And like our customers, we know everyone is different, and we’ll support you to be your best self. We’ll develop your skills and experiences, celebrate success, and turn any setbacks into motivation.

Are you ready to be your best?

Brilliant work deserves brilliant benefits! As part of our commitment to making Sanctuary Supported Living a great place to work, here are just some of the ways we’ll reward you:

  • £12.09 per hour
  • A variety of online discounts and rewards from major retailers
  • Health and well-being plans
  • A wide range of learning and development opportunities
