Bank Support Worker

Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

 

We’re seeking an experienced Bank Support Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers. Chelmsford Homelessness Supported Housing provides support for adults aged 18 to 65, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our service comprises of 26 bedrooms in shared houses, spread across two locations in Chelmsford.

 

Our team of Support Workers work closely with our customers to understand their needs, create personalised plans, and support them to achieve their ambitions and maximise their independence.

 

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as ongoing training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. We have our own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

The role of Bank Support Worker will include:

  • Regular key working and support planning to ensure relevant support is provided to encourage our customers to maximise their own potential and level of independence
  • Assessing the needs of our customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training, and employment
  • Offering housing-related support
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable people
  • A sound knowledge of housing management including voids and arrears management and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
  • The ability to react effectively under pressure
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar
  • Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards, is essential
