Job description

Project Worker

Norwich Homeless Supported Housing

£22,455

37.5 Hours – Shift pattern varied between 8:30am and 6:30pm, working one Saturday in every three with the following Monday off

Would you like to make a difference that lasts long after the end of your shift?

Could you help support our vulnerable adults towards independence?

Are you a friendly and dedicated person looking for a rewarding career.

If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you, as we may have your perfect opportunity!

We’re seeking an experienced and engaging Project Worker to make a real difference to the lives of our customers. At Reepham Road and Cromer Road, we provide short term supported housing to people experiencing, or who are at risk of, homelessness. Reepham Road has eleven bedrooms and two flats; Cromer Road has nine bedrooms and two flats. The two schemes are just five minutes walk from each other, and the successful candidate will be supporting customers across both sites.

We value our team and encourage learning and progression through our comprehensive induction programme, as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. Sanctuary has their own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

Sanctuary also offers a great employee rewards scheme, where you will be able to receive a variety of discounts from major retailers.

The role of Project Worker will include:

  • Assessing customers’ needs by writing and updating support plans and providing administrative support as well as advising, guiding and sign-posting to our external agencies
  • Being a first point of call to receive and direct all customer queries
  • Developing professional relationships with customers, ensuring that customers maintain personal choice, privacy and dignity
  • Liaising with external support links to improve customers’ confidence, health and wellbeing and offer training and encouragement towards employment and education
  • Handling occasional emergency situations
  • Keeping accurate and high quality written records

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience of working with vulnerable adults, people with mental health needs or substance misuse
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work under challenging circumstances
  • Good communication skills
  • Adaptable to internal and external changing demands
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as good general IT skills

Why work for us?

We’re united in working together to help customers on their pathways for independence, and our people are the single, biggest influence on our success.

No matter your job – delivering support directly or working in our offices to support our frontline teams – your work makes a difference every day.

We won the West Midlands Care Employer Award 2022-23, in recognition of our commitment to our staff and supporting our teams to be their best. We’ve also been awarded Investors in People Gold status for the second time – because we value our people and have a strong focus on inclusion, teamwork, and empowerment.

We’re committed to providing an inclusive and supportive work environment where you can grow and thrive. And like our customers, we know everyone is different, and we’ll support you to be your best self. We’ll develop your skills and experiences, celebrate success, and turn any setbacks into motivation.
