Support Worker

 

Stanley Grove, Manchester

 

£11.52

 

37.5 hours per week – Various shifts on a Rolling Rota - Monday to Sunday

We are seeking an experienced Support Worker to join our team at Stanley Grove. Stanley Grove provides accommodation and support for 11 adults who have been homeless and sleeping rough in Manchester, including couples, people with limited mobility and wheelchair-users.

You will use your excellent communication and support skills, working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our customers. This is a rewarding opportunity to come and work for a respected organisation, within an established and experienced team.

 

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. Sanctuary has their own Learning and Development Academy, who provide a wide range of training courses, open to all.

Shift patterns:

 

8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday

3 shifts per week

The role of Support Worker will include:

  • Regularly assessing the needs of our customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Supporting customers with day-to-day living and maintaining their tenancies
  • Working alongside customers to enable move on to independent living
  • Encouraging social inclusion, and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem by participating in activities and pastimes
  • Assisting with the effective management of the scheme buildings, handling any maintenance and health and safety issues that arise
  • Working closely with mental health medical services and other statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Completing records and carrying out some non-support related routine tasks

 

Skills and experiences:

  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards is essential
  • A sound knowledge of housing management, including voids and arrears management and an understanding of occupancy agreements
  • The ability to work on your own initiative as you will be required to source innovative solutions to problems that allow customers independence to be enhanced
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, or similar
