This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated nurse, who will join our proactive team working as a trainee Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP). You will be supported in your professional development by undertaking an MSc program designed specifically to equip you to become a qualified APNP. The course and in house support will focus on your advanced physical assessment skills, diagnostic and decision making skills, drawing on your previous nursing knowledge and experience to support your practice. Your varied experience as a senior nurse within paediatrics will help you to negotiate the transition from traditional nursing into an autonomous advanced practitioner.
You will work in a variety of settings within the paediatric speciality with a focus on developing advanced clinical skills. The paediatric MDT recognises APNP’s as essential to the service and the future of Paediatric care. Your role will include assessment, implementation and evaluation of sick and critically ill patients on the short stay paediatric unit, emergency department, critical care and paediatric ward. We have a detailed induction book and in house training programme which is under-pinned by the four pillars of advanced practice. This is designed to complement your MSc work and consolidate your new knowledge, skills and training.
The training will inform your practice and confidence in decision making, allowing you to work as a practitioner on the on-call medical rota. Non-medical prescribing will be an enhanced role within your practice and you will be supported by a Paediatric Consultant and mentored by an APNP colleague. As well as working with an excellent nursing and medical team who are familiar with the demands and requirement of the trainee APNP role.
