Duties
- You will be responsible to Works Chargehand, Works Supervisor & Works Manager.
- You will be placed with another fabricator to assist and develop knowledge of the role.
- Liaise with Works Chargehand for the issue of production packages (shop orders, drawings, cutting lists and material lists).
- Training & introduction to the use of the fabrication manuals & how to read them.
- Learn how to read production drawings and develop knowledge of how to identify any problems/discrepancies and how to raise with production management/drawing office.
- Assist with transfer of materials from stores to working area.
- Gain experience to confirm to stores any special requirements or modifications.
- Liaise with Works Chargehand & Senior fabricator on the progress and location of materials.
- Learn fabrication works and gain the necessary training utilising the applicable machinery i.e. saws, router, notcher, grinder, punches, drills, crimper and hand jigs etc.
- Ensure completed components are packed correctly into stillages or onto racks/pallets to reduce risk of damage.
- Learn how to confirm to Chargehand/supervisor/works manager any site specific or special requirements and/or modifications to stillages/frames for packing.
- Learn how to enter details of completed components on stillage/frame content lists and attach boards to stillages to assist material traceability.
- Ensure stillages are fitted with end plates if required and all documentation is checked & quantities and details on stillage/frame contents lists are correct.
- Training to gain knowledge of how to sign off all production drawings/route cards on completion of works and return information to chargehand/Supervisor.
- Liaise with Works Supervisors/Chargehands regarding the completion of fabrication operations and ensure correct hours expended are recorded (on a daily basis) on your work allocation/ timesheet.
- Ensure quality control is always maintained during fabrication of all manufactured components.
- Learn how to keep machinery, working area and factory clean/tidy.
- Notify Production Management of any machinery faults or maintenance issues.
- Gain training in company health and safety requirements & undertake any qualifications related to this.
Salary
- Starts at £10.42 p/h but can quickly rise.
- Based in Viking Works, Hamsterley Colliery, Newcastle upon Tyne NE17 7SY.
- Hours are, Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:30. Friday 08:00 - 15:30.
- Overtime available which is paid at time & a half.
- Permanent position with work secured until at least 2025.
- Not sheet metal fabrication and no welding.
