The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Insurance Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will receive comprehensive training and support as you learn the ins and outs of insurance underwriting. You will work closely with experienced underwriters to assess risks, evaluate policy applications, and determine appropriate coverage for our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic industry and develop the skills needed for a successful career in insurance underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Phone Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for Randell Dorling and Blackmore Borley, ensuring prompt and professional handling of incoming calls.
- Email and Post Management: Monitor and manage incoming emails and postal correspondence for both Randell Dorling and Blackmore Borley products, using Acturis as well as other software systems for task management.
- Handle incoming emails for Side by Side, escalating to Peter Blackmore as needed.
- Client Queries: Address client inquiries regarding new business, renewals, midterm adjustments (MTAs), or cancellations for Blackmore Borley and Randell Dorling products.
- Renewal Management: Manage renewal reports and processes for both Randell Dorling and Blackmore Borley products, including proactive communication via phone and email to clients
- Monthly Renewal Updates: Provide Kirstie with manual/open market renewal updates monthly and follow up on progress.
- Legal Defence Insurance: Handle new business and renewal processes for legal defence insurance clients.
- Absence Coverage: Ensure continuity of service in Kirstie's absence by managing handovers and messages.
- Binding Authority Agreement: Understand and implement binding authority agreements when interacting with clients and underwriters.
- Support the Senior Commercial Underwriter with additional administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business, finance, economics) preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
- Basic understanding of insurance principles and concepts are a plus but not required.
