My client who is based in Martock, an engineering company focusing on a number of sectors including aerospace and automotive and transportation, is looking for a trainee/ apprentice Wood Machinist to join their team.
Due to the continued growth of the business we are looking for someone who is interested in being a Wood Machinist
You will have an interest in wood and a passion for wood working and making things
The client will put you though your apprenticeship that will include:
woodworking machinery and tools including routers, circular saws, band saws, forma boards, grinding and screwing equipment.
As a trainee Wood Machinist you will be involved with operating and maintaining woodworking machinery, accurately cutting and shaping wood pieces, assembling and packing cases, and providing assistance in the machine shop if needed.
Responsibilities/ skills you will learn:
Operate woodworking machinery such as routers, circular saws, band saws, and grinding equipment
Cut and shape wood pieces according to specifications
Assemble and pack cases for transportation and storage
Assist in the machine shop with various tasks as required
Maintain and clean woodworking machinery and tools
Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and guidelines
To read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Knowledge of woodworking techniques and materials
You will be :
Interested in being a Wood Machinist
Strong attention to detail and precision
Good physical stamina and strength for lifting and moving wood pieces
Excellent problem-solving skills
Team player with good communication skills
40 hours a week
Open from 7 am to 5.30, so flexible on start and OT available
OT available on Saturday and Sunday
