This post is part of the Workforce Development Team in Human Resources. The post holder will develop and deliver a range of training primarily to staff working in Community Health & Social Care and Children’s Services but also to staff working across the Council.

Job Purpose:

• To deliver accredited Manual Handling and MAPA training.
• Together with the Health & Safety Manager, to consider the implications and implementation of new/updated relevant legislation and contribute to the review of relevant policies and procedures.
• To assess and advise on complex moving and handling risk assessments and contribute to devising care plans and standard operating procedures to minimise the risks to all involved.
• To provide advice, motivational and technical support and information around moving and handling and the prevention and management of violence and aggression.
• To deliver a range of high quality health & social care training to new and existing front-line staff in a variety of locations. Areas include Palliative Care, Dementia Awareness, Person Centred Planning, Lone Working Social Care practice and other priority areas as required.
• To design and develop short courses in accordance with regulatory requirements, SSSC codes of Practice and National Care Standards.

• Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.3161
• Permanent Part Time post for 22.5 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
• Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made
• A relocation package does not apply to this post
• We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
• You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited
