Transport Manager
Tilbury, Essex
Full time, Permanent Position
Hours: 11:00am to 8:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum DOE
Main duties and responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
• To oversee both Transport and Warehouse supervisory staff and working areas, ensuring pick & loads are accurate prior to dispatch.
• To control all planning of drivers, routes and deliveries to Customer sites through the UK.
• To manage vehicle licences and compliance, support Drivers with checks and day to day needs.
• To manage the Logistics and other relevant teams to ensure required quality and company standards are achieved.
• To be responsible for achieving operational targets, goals and contractual KPI’s for the purpose of ensuring the provision of an effective and efficient quality service to all Customers.
• Manage Staff performance feedback and implementation of training/development activities to create a harmonious working environment.
• Manage stock levels efficiently.
• Work with the Procurement team to build and maintain excellent working relationships with Suppliers and Stockists.
• Monitor any repair requirements that may arise and resolve in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements and legislation are adhered to.
• Carry out appropriate risk assessments in accordance with guidelines.
• Responsible for the coordination of stock takes, warranty returns and managing despatch processes and fault log.
• Manage relevant data and reports to create improvement plans- ensuring that continuous improvement is reviewed.
Key Skills:
- Clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able to work to own initiative.
- Agile approach to strategy and planning with a proven experience of adapting operational plans to changing customer requirements.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience within an industrial warehousing environment.
• Previous experience within a relevant supervisory role within the last 6 months.
• High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Resilient and able to adapt.
• Experience with Goods In/Despatch operations.
• Experience with Transport Planning.
• Experience within managing and carrying out stock takes.
