GPS Recruitment have an opportunity with a valued client within their Transport department for a Transport Planner, working alongside the existing members of the Transport team to continually deliver a smooth service.
Ideally, we are looking to speak with people having some previous transport and vehicle routing knowledge/experience. However, if you are looking to kickstart a career in transport and searching for your first step, we would like to make contact too.
The role is based at the company’s Normanton site in West Yorkshire.
Main duties:
- Planning the drivers and fleet both onsite and at regional out-based depots to achieve set planned deliveries nationwide.
- Efficient routing of the fleet to maximise and maintain customer service whilst ensuring legal compliance with driver working hours and fuel utilisation.
- Assisting the rest of the team in other functions within a busy Transport office.
Key personal skills:
- A strong national geographical knowledge and experience of planning vehicles nationwide would be an advantage.
- A background in transport is desirable but not essential.
- Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Able to manage your own work time to achieve timed daily duties.
- Able to work within a small team.
Working hours: 12.00pm – 8.30pm, Monday to Friday.
