What you will do
At Tata Steel UK, we prioritize safety above all else. As a Transport & Warehouse Operative, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of yourself, your team, and the smooth operation of our warehouse areas.
Working across all sections of our warehouse, you'll support various warehouse duties while adhering strictly to local and workplace Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to uphold a secure work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Championing Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety by strictly following SOPs and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines. Facilitate team safety meetings to reinforce safety protocols and foster a culture of safety awareness.
- Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse equipment following defined procedures to achieve set objectives safely and efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in audits and checks to ensure compliance with work procedures and maintain set quality standards.
- Warehouse Operations: Engage in various line and warehouse operations, which may include operating machinery, mobile plant, and equipment.
- SAP Operation: Utilize SAP to accurately record all coil movements within the designated area, contributing to efficient inventory management.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in identifying best practices and improvements, supporting their implementation to enhance warehouse efficiency and effectiveness.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with departments such as Transport, Manufacturing, Packing, PPC, and others to ensure seamless material flow and optimize operational processes.
What you will need
The Transport & Warehouse Operative should have knowledge of the works process units / warehouse operations and their products. Knowledge of the works computer system (SAP) coupled with basic IT skills is also required.
We need people who are able to demonstrate good team working skills and abilities. You should have problem solving skills and be able to make decisions under pressure. As a Transport & Warehouse Operative, you will be a self-starter and demonstrate a proactive attitude to work and a willingness to learn. You’ll be a strong communicator and will possess a drive to achieve the objectives / targets of the department
