Position Title: Metals Risk Analyst

Job Summary:

The Metals Risk Analyst is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to metals trading, including base and precious metals. This role involves analyzing market conditions, monitoring trading activities, and developing risk management strategies to protect the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Risk Identification and Assessment:

    • Analyze and assess risks associated with metals trading activities.
    • Monitor market trends and geopolitical events that could impact metal prices and trading volumes.
    • Evaluate counterparty risk and credit exposure.
  2. Market Analysis:

    • Conduct thorough analysis of metal markets, including supply and demand factors, price trends, and economic indicators.
    • Prepare regular reports on market conditions, risk exposures, and potential impacts on the company’s trading activities.
  3. Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Continuously monitor trading positions and market movements.
    • Develop and maintain risk dashboards and reporting tools.
    • Provide timely risk reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  4. Risk Mitigation Strategies:

    • Develop and implement risk management strategies and hedging activities.
    • Recommend actions to mitigate identified risks, including adjustments to trading strategies.
    • Collaborate with trading, finance, and compliance teams to ensure effective risk management practices.
  5. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to metals trading.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
    • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and documentation.
  6. System and Process Improvement:

    • Enhance risk management systems and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Participate in the development of new risk management methodologies and frameworks.
    • Identify and implement process improvements.
  7. Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Work closely with traders, finance, legal, and compliance teams to align risk management activities with business objectives.
    • Communicate risk-related findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    • Experience in risk analysis, preferably in the metals or commodities sector.
    • Strong understanding of metals markets and trading practices.
    • Experience with risk management tools and systems.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and make informed decisions quickly.
    • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Excel, SQL, risk management software).
