Job description

Treasury Markets Compliance Officer
London
As a Barclays Treasury Markets Compliance Officer, you will provide 'Business Oversight Compliance' coverage and support to Barclays' Treasury teams by overseeing conduct related controls and helping Treasury ensure the right outcomes for clients, investors and markets are embedded in decision making. You will focus on the market facing trading, structuring and issuance teams in Treasury and be a part of the Markets & Treasury Compliance team.
Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity - helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.
What will you be doing?
• Providing technical advice with in-depth knowledge of relevant rules and regulations and the related controls
• Developing effective partnerships with key stakeholders/trading teams, Compliance colleagues and other infrastructure areas
• Reviewing and advising on transaction proposals and new and amended products
• Participating in relevant governance processes and forums
• Acting as a point of contact for Treasury on applicable Policies, Standards, procedures, rules or regulations and internal controls
• Conducting targeted testing for areas under coverage and supporting Compliance Assurance colleagues with their reviews
• Conducting new hire, ad-hoc and annual Compliance training sessions for business
• Managing any escalations or requests from Compliance Services teams, such as Surveillance and Employee Compliance
What we're looking for:
• Previous experience working in Treasury or Markets Compliance or a closely related role
• Sound stakeholder and relationship management skills to build relationships, make impactful contributions and effectively influence outcomes
• Ability to identify potential Compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate risk
• Ability to analyse and interpret Policies, Standards or Regulatory rules and their impact on the business
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Sound knowledge of bond or private equity markets and trading desks including applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Good business judgement, integrity, commercial awareness and problem solving skills
Where will you be working?
In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as: a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
