We are currently seeking an expert individual to join this team in the role of Treasury Risk, Governance & Control Manager - Risk Management Framework.

The Treasury Risk Governance and Control Office (RG&C) Team is an embedded 1st line of defence team within the Global Treasury Strategy, Execution and Controls (SE&C) area of HSBC. In line with HSBC’s Risk Management Framework, the Treasury RG&C team helps define and enable risk culture and controls, identify and assess risks and impacts, manage/mitigate risks within appetite, aggregate and report data and decisions, and govern the risks through analysis, challenge and control remediation including but not limited to Treasury Risk and Conduct / Non-Financial Risks. 

The overarching purpose of the role is to protect HSBC, its People, Clients and Financial Markets by helping safeguarding the delivery of fair outcomes to our customers and avoiding disruption of the orderly and transparent operation of Financial Markets.

In this role, you will:

• You will play a key role as a Controls Office within Treasury and/or Markets Treasury Controls Office depending on Business priorities;
• Reporting and functionally accountable to the R,G&C team, you will assist in the oversight of Risk, Governance, Controls and Conduct within the Treasury organisation as per HSBC’s Risk Management Framework, by supporting and promoting the effective execution of global governance, escalation, remediation,  assurance, deep-dives, read-across, issue management, conduct and control standards, including the definition of these where specific/relevant to the relevant entity, region or global vertical;
• You will need to work closely with Global and Regional Treasury teams as well as business management, SE&C community, and their support functions to support and promote the effective implementation and design of control standards, governance, and procedures, with the aim of sharing and promoting best practice; and
• You will also play a key role in helping support the enhancement/improvement of controls and best practice within the region. A particular focus of this role will include embedding additional risks introduced under the Risk Taxonomy and Controls Library under Risk Management Enhancement Program.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Demonstrable experience in business management or risk/control roles within a financial institution, preferably in the context of Global Treasury, Markets Treasury and/or Markets business;
• Experience of Markets/ Treasury business and products (i.e., Capital, Liquidity, IRRBB);
• Treasury function experience within a global organisation, preferably in the context of a bank;
• Analytical and project management skills;
• Knowledge of internal control and risk management in Markets/ Treasury;
• Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders (at all levels of seniority).

The base location for this role is either London or Edinburgh and with a hybrid working pattern.
