The Emergency Department of Russells Hall Hospital is a modern, busy Department, seeing over 100,000 new patients per annum.
It is led by a dynamic team of consultants, currently providing senior presence in the department for support and supervision from 0800-2400
The department holds a long track record of excellence in education and training.
The department is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team including middle grade doctors, junior doctors, nurse/paramedic practitioners, nurses and administrative staff.
There is 24-hour senior middle grade doctor supervision.

We aim to become a center of excellence both in the clinical service we deliver to our patients and in the support, we give to our doctors with regards to career progression. The department encourages career progression and offers the opportunity for promotion to a Specialty Doctor (equivalent to Middle Grade) position subject to meeting the requirements of this post, alternatively we actively support applicants wishing to undertake the MRCEM and pursue CESR training.
In addition to the protected non-clinical time the postholder will work a full shift pattern including early, late and night shifts providing 24-hour cover with a weekend shifts commitment supported by ED consultants directly (0800-2400) and remotely (0000-0800).
Responsibility for the examination and treatment of patients attending the Emergency Department under the care of the Emergency Consultants.
Enthusiastic participation in teaching programs for junior staff, continuing medical education and clinical audit will be expected.
Other duties at the request of the Consultants.
Providing the clinical support to facilitate the provision of high quality, efficient services, ensuring achievement of all key performance indicators.
Support the Clinical Director and the senior team in integrating the work of the medical, nursing, administrative and other professional/clinical staff and aligning these around the delivery of effective and efficient services.
