Job description

The Courtauld is a world-leading institution specialising in the teaching, research, conservation and curation of art and its histories with an internationally renowned gallery at its heart. The Courtauld Gallery cares for one of the finest art collections in the world, famous for its iconic Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces. A specialist institution with a significant presence on the global stage, we are widely known for our world-leading research and illustrious alumni, with an unusually high number leading major international museums, commercial galleries, auction houses and art fairs drawn from just 9,000 graduates.The Courtauld is at a pivotal moment in its history, in the second phase of a £100m+ capital project that will transform The Courtauld’s facilities at Somerset House and will prepare it for the next generation of visitors, academics and students.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Courtauld’s ambitious and creative Advancement team as we grow income from Trusts, Foundations and philanthropists for activity spanning exhibitions, Gallery public programming and outreach, capital funding, academic initiatives and scholarship funding. With a passion for the visual arts, you will play a critical role in supporting the development lasting relationships, and working with the Trusts and Foundations Lead secure significant grant income for The Courtauld’s projects and core costs. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to develop inspiring reports, compelling proposals for mid-level support and arrange bespoke visits for cultivation and stewardship of potential and existing supporters. Working closely with our researcher, you will build our prospect pool, actively seeking out new Trusts and Foundations in the UK and internationally to increase income and growth, year-on year.

A confident, target-driven and warm individual, you will have previous experience of working with Trusts and Foundations either in the arts or broader sector, have a passion and interest in the arts or equivalent experience built within an arts or cultural organisation. You will have experience in building relationships with key stakeholders and have excellent writing skills, a keen eye for detail and an ability to write compelling, engaging narrative.
