Typist (Orthopaedic Medical/Medicolegal) Freelance And All-Round Administrator (York Area)

An experienced Medical/Medicolegal Audio Typist and all round Administrator, who can work independently and creatively is required to support a solo Orthopaedic Surgeon and small friendly team in a busy medicolegal practice based in York. The post offers an opportunity to contribute to interesting and meaningful work. Whilst the position is home based candidates based in the York/Leeds area will be given preference.

THE ROLE

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• Mainly Audio typing on an ad-hoc basis (2 to 4 clinics per week).
• Assisting the Appointments Secretary, Practice Manager and Typists with workload, as and when required, including scheduling appointments and responding to enquiries via email, typing of reports and correspondence etc.
• All duties relating to the role are on a confidential basis.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

You will be an experienced Medical/Medicolegal Typist/Administrator working from home with your own computer, printer, and reliable internet connection as downloading of records will be required from time to time.

This position will suit someone with Orthopaedic knowledge or with a medical secretary background.

Experience of working on Blue Spier Portal an advantage.

One of the requirements of the job will be considering medical records and adding to the report if required.

Important essential skills include:

• Fast and accurate audio typing skills
• Excellent written English and proofreading
• Excellent administration skills.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible, self-sufficient, trustworthy, and able to work on your own initiative
• Excellent organisational skills, good team player.
• Good telephone communication
• Up-to-date computer knowledge including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Google Drive
• Blue Spier would be an advantage.
• Knowledgeable in IGPR and adherence to policies regarding confidentiality.

REMUNERATION

The role is remote home-based on a self-employed basis at £12/hour.

The initial position would be flexible for around 20 hours per week.
