Job description

The role

We’re looking for a UX Researcher to join N Brown. The UX team’s mission is to use the customer voice and data to design user centred experiences which meet user needs and business goals.

You will join the customer experience team to provide the answers to some of the most challenging questions, throughout the product design process. Your role will be to uncover what our customers need from our products by undertaking primary research, exploring customer behaviour and motivation and working closely with designers, product managers and other stakeholders around the business. You will be conducting usability research and user testing, creating personas and presenting your findings to the team and stakeholders.

What will you do as anUX Researcherat N Brown?

  • Be the user’s advocate – ensuring their needs are central to the design process.
  • Responsibility for the planning and delivery of user research at every stage of the product’s lifecycle.
  • You’ll mentor, coach and inspire other members of the experience research team.
  • Document and communicate actionable product research findings and recommendations with stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Shape and contribute to the digital design system, including documenting research and insight to provide rationale for the teams’ design decisions.
  • Lead the business on how to adopt a truly customer centric culture
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, architects and product owners to further enhance the user journey.
  • Design quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
  • Work closely with analysts to validate and identify connections across data sources.
  • Partake and employ end-user research and testing.
  • Maintain working relationship and contractual arrangements with usability research agencies and participants suppliers.

What skills and experience will you have?

  • Academic background focused on Cognitive Science / Psychology qualification or equivalent experience (HCI)
  • 3+ years of experience designing consumer-facing products across multi device.
  • Experience in a culture of user centred methodologies.
  • Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Can clearly and effectively communicate findings and opportunities to teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in continuous delivery environments where the pace is fast
  • Ability to identify key recommendations inspired by customer needs and behaviours.
  • Proven experience of successfully integrating customer research into a products design practice.
  • Display a strong understanding of the strengths and limitations of different research methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical / analytical approach and great problem-solving skills
  • Attitude and the aptitude to learn new technology area/domain quickly
  • Great presentation and persuasion skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player who could work collaboratively with other members of the team

Ways of Working

We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in. For this role, the expectation would be 1 day per week. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we’re perfectly located, plus we’re surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat!

Our working hours are 36.17 per week and our core working hours are between 10am - 4pm. Given we don’t have strict working hours you can find the working pattern that’s right for you.
