The Role:
There is an exciting opportunity to support M&G plc's plans in respect of Corporate Risk and Investment Solutions (CRIS). We are looking for strong candidates to be part of a team of Finance experts in supporting the design and implementation of the new propositions and products. This team will be responsible for providing finance expertise to the design team and leading the development of innovative solutions to enable speedy and controlled adoption for financial reporting purposes.
You will support the development of Finance capabilities to design and adopt new products and solutions:
  • The role holder will be a qualified actuary with extensive experience in Financial Reporting.
  • The role will require previous experience working in the bulk purchased annuities (BPA) sector.
  • The role will require strong communication skills, explaining complex financial concepts to non-finance experts and make a strong contribution to the product design process.
  • The role holder will have the ability to quickly understand and adopt new and complex concepts.
  • The position calls for an individual who is a self-starter who can work independently to deliver high-quality outputs.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Support the delivery of solutions to implement new proposition/products in an efficient, commercial and controlled manner.
  • Drive business growth by contributing to the design of innovative, efficient and financially sound product solutions.
  • Ensure the provision of high quality actuarial reporting input to the business.
  • Liaise with the wider Finance teams to ensure reporting capabilities for new propositions are in place in a timely and controlled manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G plc's operational risk.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Qualified Life actuary with strong knowledge of financial services, regulatory and legislative frameworks, including IFRS and Solvency II principles and associated external reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Experience of preparing financial information for the purposes of meeting internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative environment and reporting metrics
  • Knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Working knowledge of the impact of governance, risk and compliance processes
  • An understanding of the commercial implications of decisions
  • Experience in understanding the wider business and distilling this information to provide understandable results to the business
  • Experience of disseminating complex quality information to internal and external stakeholders (including regulators and rating agencies) and ensuring it is understood
  • Experience of delivering advanced financial findings and results to an audience with varying degrees of sophistication by breaking down complex information and challenging others to appropriately limit technical jargon
  • Experience of using understanding of the business linked with finance knowledge to support the business and of making recommendations and helping to originate creative solutions
  • Experience of delivering under pressure and/or to tight timescales
  • Experience of translating Finance's vision and goals into clear, specific and achievable objectives, making the vision tangible for individual teams
  • Ability to produce high quality technical work whilst operating within a well-controlled environment
