Vehicle Technician

SLM Select is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Vehicle Technician with a strong work ethic and a passion for problem solving to join our busy workshop team.

• Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 (depending on qualifications) + Bonus

• Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30, Saturdays on a rotational basis

Our SLM Select site is the flagship used car retailer for the SLM Group which has recently had a significant refurbishment, transforming it into the leading used car outlet in the area. SLM Select is an exciting multi-brand aftersales opportunity, as it is both a Bosch Car Service Centre and a busy Nissan aftersales outlet. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, experienced, and ready to make an impact from their first day!

As a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, you will be working in a busy, multi-brand workshop environment, where you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles to the high standards of the SLM Group. SLM Group takes pride in supporting our employees in developing their knowledge through the training opportunities available to them. All Technicians are placed on a full Bosch training plan which will include EV/Hybrid, Diagnostics and MOT Tester qualifications, enabling our team to develop their skills across all brands of vehicles and progress their careers with SLM.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to be able to work as part of the team. Previous main dealer experience is preferred.

What we’re looking for in a Vehicle Technician:

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Repair or equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician.
• Knowledge of all makes and models preferable but not essential.
• Ability to complete motor vehicle repairs and routine maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work effectively within a team and ensure industry leading customer service.
• Accuracy in using our online VHC Video System.
• Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
• Ability to use own initiative and work under minimum supervision.
