Brief

As a Verification & Validation Manager you will be leading a team of Systems and Test Engineers for a major Defence organisation.
You will be required to ensure that the Team has the right capacity & capability of skills, processes and tools to meet anticipated business needs as well as staying involved on a technical level with regards to Verification and Validation activities.

What the role entails for the Verification & Validation Manager:

Programme Planning - Tracking & Reporting - Line management & Programme Resourcing -

Design, Development & Qualification - Review and Audit

• Approval of an appropriate suite of plans, standards and procedures for the V&V work, and the approval or rejection of requests to deviate from defined standards and procedures.
• Guidance in creation of management plans.
• Approve and signatory of Management plans.
• Review and approval V&V aspects of Development Estimates
• Provision of expert discipline advice in the selection, application, and interpretation of standards.
• Ensure that Programme plans are realistic and are kept up to date with the Engineering team agreement.
• Ensure positive work, continuous improvements, actions, and opportunities are reported.
• Ensure all programme teams are adequately resourced with suitable trained SQEP engineers.
• Ensure you and the Team Leaders that report to you are proactive with recruitment aims.
• Ensure Team Skills and Competencies are maintained.
• Conduct regular people management: team meetings, 1-1s, career discussions, mentoring, coaching.
• Conduct regular continuous improvement team discussion to improve efficiency.
• Drive for industry best practice for engineering verification, validation, and qualification.
• Ensuring designs comply with approved management plans, using approved design methods, competent personnel, effective delivery systems and design processes.
• Act as a member or chairman of Design Review boards - support decision making and ensuring actions relevant to V&V are closed in a timely manner.

Required experience for the Verification & Validation Manager:

• Must be a confident people manager with demonstrable experience, previous people management experience is essential.
• Experience and background full understanding of systems engineering and delivering complex (safety) projects through the V model.
• Understanding of environmental qualification and test methods from Def Stan 00-35
• The understanding and experience of using Agile techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
