This role will largely focus on improvements to extant definitions to ensure clarity, compliance with design intent as detailed in DDR’s and DSR and remove cost drivers supporting the enterprise cost and drumbeat targets.
In addition to the above tasks the successful applicant shall support the team in dealing with emergent manufacturing issues, supplier queries and answering QNs. Although initially this role will be design focussed, there will be opportunity to broaden into a true producibility role, absorbing manufacturing design and improvement tasks.
This role is a leadership role so also requires the successful applicant to have the softer skills of people leadership and resource management.

- Deployment of DAR and PCB process
- Technical Authority – Ensure deign intent is achieved
- Reduction in cost of non-quality across the product family
- Liaison with other departments such as DE&T, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure delivery of parts to set timescales and targeted costs.
- Drive continuous improvements to eliminate the need for concessions and rework.
- Control and reduce costs to drive profitability in the factory by continuously challenging the methods of manufacture.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A good understanding of ASME Y14.5 (Drawing standard)
- Solid Design Engineering background.
- Familiarity with ASME III calculations.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Experience of root cause analysis.
- An awareness of manufacturing techniques and capabilities including machining and welding.
- Familiarity with NDE techniques and limitations.
- Design for X experience (where X is, cost, manufacture, maintenance and build).

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
