The Opportunity

An rare opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our Sutton Farm practice in Shrewsbury. This is a growing clinic with a highly motivated and expanding team. You will be working alongside our highly motivated Branch Partner Emma who has a particular interest in cardiology and dermatology.

The practice has recently been extended and refurbished and sits within a bustling area of Shrewsbury.

Emma is a highly dedicated Veterinary Surgeon and is close to finishing her second certificate in Dermatology and is looking to recruit a competent and equally dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to work alongside. CPD would actively be encouraged.

Full or part time working can be negotiated for the right candidate and can be negotiated along with a salary and benefits package.

The practice runs on 15 minute appointments and have a healthy client base. We have typical equipment such as multiparameter, k laser, Tonopen, and digital x-ray and an Imagyst machine.

Sutton Farm is close to our 24hr hospital where you will have access to further piece of equipment such as scopes, lap spay kit, CT, dental x-ray and hydrotherapy and will be our out of hours provider.

The full time hours would be 39 per week worked over 4 days, plus weekend work.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
  • Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
  • Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  • Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
