We are currently seeking Veterinary Surgeon to join our DAY/NIGHT TEAM here at Ashleigh Vets.
We are a busy, but friendly, small animal and exotics practice located in Manchester, with good access to the city centre. We see a variety of cases ranging from the simple, to the more complex, as we have a large team of veterinary staff with many years of experience, interests, and specialities. We are a large supportive team, with over 30 years of providing Veterinary care to our local community. This is a great opportunity for a new graduate looking for a position both to practice basic skills in a supportive environment, as well as expand their knowledge and competence in other areas. The position could also provide an excellent overview and introduction to veterinary medicine for anybody who has had some time out of this area of work. It would also suit anybody wanting to further their experience of emergency work, or as an introduction to exotic animal treatment and husbandry.
For this role you would not need to be experienced in exotics care, but an interest in this area would be beneficial. You will need to be a team player, with the ability to work on your own initiative, with a keen interest in learning. You should be friendly, approachable, and most importantly, have a good sense of humour!
The rota is based on a 4 week pattern:
Week 1
8am-4pm Monday to Friday
11am-7pm Saturday-Sunday
Week 2
Off Monday-Tuesday

Week 3

On the out of hours shifts you will be caring for our inpatients, with the support of an auxiliary nurse, and the back up of a 2nd experienced Veterinary Surgeon on call should you need more support or advice. We also have an RVN on call for any OOH procedures, or surgeries where assistance is necessary. You will be taking OOH emergency calls, and seeing any necessary appointments in the clinic.
We do not provide OOH cover for any other practices.
The rota would include a share of weekend shifts and bank holiday cover.
We are happy to consider applicants from outside the UK with a valid RCVS membership.
