Veterinary Surgeon

The Opportunity

Our well-established practice at Maidenbower in Crawley’s suburbs is hiring a new Veterinary Surgeon; joining our fantastic team. Our team includes 2 experienced vets, 1 studying for a GP Cert in small animal medicine and the other with experience in cardiology and ultrasound. The nursing team really experienced and motivated, enabling our vets to dedicate their time to vet work. We are supported by a local out of hours service at Faygate.

The practice sits in a busy residential area and close to local shops and easy access to the beautiful Sussex countryside, with great transport links to London, Brighton and Gatwick airport.

We have 3 well-equipped consult rooms, digital x-ray, full lab, 2 theatres, 2 dental machines, ultrasound, endoscope, laparoscopic equipment, and we are one of the few practices locally that houses a very popular hydrotherapy unit.

The opportunity would suit either an experienced vet or one looking expand their career with a varied caseload of consults and surgery across a loyal customer base. We have a large proportion of insured pets and clients on the Medivet loyalty scheme. 

If you are an experienced orthopaedics surgeon, our practice is also set up to perform orthopaedics surgery with the necessary equipment in-house.

This is 4-day per week opportunity with a fixed day off and our weekend rota is 1 in 6 weekends at our out of hours service at Faygate-24. We are also open to part-time colleagues and have a flexible rota that includes later starts and earlier finishes.

In this role you will:

• Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
• Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
• Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
• Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
• Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
• Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
• Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
• Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
• Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
• Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
• Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
