About the role
Do you want to use your volunteer management experience to help support people with their mental health? Do you want to help us recruit more volunteers to enable us to support more people across Hampshire? If so, this could be a great role for you.
You will join us at an exciting time ahead of launching our new three-year strategy, which puts the essential role of volunteering for Solent Mind at its centre. This new role recognises the importance of this work and its impact on our cause.
The role will lead and join up our approach to the recruitment, retention, and training of volunteers and student placements. Our volunteers include skilled professionals, local businesses, social work students, people who accessed our services previously and many others. You will work closely with service managers and local volunteer coordinators within the services. Your aim will be to increase the number of volunteers and student placements at Solent Mind and provide opportunities for them to contribute to the organisation. Additionally, you will ensure that volunteers and placement students have a meaningful experience while supporting with Solent Mind.
This role is within Solent Mind’s fundraising and external engagement team but will work closely with our teams in the wellbeing centres. It is an exciting and dynamic place to work with opportunities to contribute to wider projects and develop your skills.
About you
You will need a background in volunteer management, demonstrating expertise through previous roles. Your experience should include engagement or understanding of individuals dealing with mental health needs. Showcasing your expertise in recruiting, retaining, and training volunteers while working closely with colleagues as across the organisation on shared objectives. Strong organisational skills, including effective time management and the ability to handle competing priorities, are important.
