We are seeking an effective Warehouse Manager within Bishop Auckland. As a Warehouse Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a first-class customer experience by managing operations, implementing company principles, and achieving functional objectives.
This role would suit a leader who has a continuous improvement mindset and can implement new processes and procures alongside managing a team of business staff.
Responsibilities:
- Staff management of Warehouse Operatives and Warehouse administrative teams
- Strategic Management: Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations in compliance with company policies and vision.
- Set up layout and ensure efficient space.
- Operational Efficiency: Initiate, coordinate, and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements. Maintain health, safety, hygiene, and security standards.
- Stock Control: Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage systems.
- Budgeting: Prepare the annual budget.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, select, orient, coach, and motivate employees.
- Continuous Improvement: Run continuous improvement discussions and introduce LEAN principles.
- Ensure all site operations are fully established, adaptable, integrated, and aligned with standard operational policies.
- To assist with varied HR issues - i.e. recruitment, disciplinary, grievances, appeals, training, appraisals etc. in conjunction with HR department
- Geographical Awareness: Be aware of the depot's geographical area and catchment zone.
- Health and Safety: Responsible for the health and safety of all personnel on-site.
- Promote a positive Health and Safety culture in line with the companies Safety First - Vision Zero principles.
- Ensure compliance to all policies and procedures regarding driving on Company business when required to do so
- Contingency Planning: Ensure contingency plans are in place for all areas of activity.
- Assist and challenge operational budget forecasting
- Be aware of operating cost and monitor / report the performance of all operations (depot & transport) against the budget and KPI's.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Warehouse Operations Manager.
- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Operational understanding of operating Warehouse Management Systems
- Hands-on experience with warehouse management software and databases.
- Leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience of handling export shipments is desirable.
