More on the role - The Day-to-Day:

• Develop and maintain websites throughout the group, ensuring cross-platform compatibility and optimal performance.
• Design and implement user-friendly interfaces and interactive features to enhance the overall user experience.
• Collaborate with the Head of Marketing and Senior Graphic Designer to translate design mock-ups and wireframes into fully functional digital products.
• Manage project timelines and priorities effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues and bugs.
• Develop and implement new features and functionalities for WordPress-based websites, including custom themes, plugins, and modules.
• Ensure website security by implementing authentication, password hashing, data encryption, and other security measures.
• Develop and validate test routines to ensure the quality of the external and internal interface.
• Ensure UI design, cross-browser compatibility, and adherence to web standards.
• Maintain awareness of website accessibility and ensure a positive user experience for individuals with disabilities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.
• Stay up to date with latest web development best practices and industry trends to maintain knowledge currency.

Required Skills and Experience:

• A degree in computer science, web development and/ or proven industry experience and a strong working knowledge of WordPress.
• 3-5 years demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Ability to write and edit technical documentation to effectively communicate project requirements and specifications across teams.
• Proficient in various programming languages including PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/ jQuery.
• Demonstrable ability to translate design mock-ups or wireframes into fully functional WordPress themes, ensuring responsiveness, cross-browser compatibility, and optimised performance.
• Experience in extending WordPress functionality through custom plugins, and integrated third-party APIs.
• Experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development.
• Understands responsive designs and UX/UI principles, with good knowledge of website optimisation and security best practices.
• Experienced in e-commerce platforms or other content management systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues, perform code reviews, check network diagnostics, and adhere to version control workflows to maintain code quality and ensure project scalability and maintenance.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training.
• Actively uses social media platforms such as LinkedIn for business networking and industry updates.
