Job description

About the role:

This post is a Monday - Friday role

The role involves working in multi-agency settings in Camden and Islington, working in partnership with existing delivery structures, local networks and developing collective practises. Navigators are able to manage their own their own time, working flexibly on the go, including some working from home.

The Navigator will carry a caseload of 10 client who are rough sleeping and experiencing multiple disadvantage, and will provide end-to-end holistic, coordinated support for each individual, from first contact in a street setting through to helping them to achieve a more settled and fulfilled lifestyle.

Navigators will provide personalised solutions which demonstrate innovation, creativity as well as iterative learning.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of acute mental health conditions, complex trauma, and addiction.

As a Navigator, you will provide support such as:

  •  Assessing their needs and identifying their goals.
  •  Helping them to find and maintain suitable accommodation.
  •  Supporting them to access health, social care, and mental health services.
  •  Assisting them to apply for benefits, grants, and other entitlements.
  •  Linking them with education, training, and employment opportunities.
  •  Empowering them to develop their skills, confidence, and resilience.
  •  Advocating for them with other agencies and professionals.
  •  Providing crisis intervention and harm reduction advice.

About you:

  • Previous experience of working with either rough sleepers or people with complex mental health, alcohol or substance use support needs. 
  • An understanding of working with people using person-centred approaches and working collaboratively within a harm minimisation and recovery framework.
  • The ability to manage a caseload and deliver positive outcomes, utilising your knowledge of the health and social care sector is also needed.   
  • A flexible and creative approach to working with a sometimes hard to reach client group.
