Job description

The Cabinet Office (CO) sits at the heart of government. We support the Prime Minister and ensure the effective running of government, and we are home to a diverse array of business units, professions, and central functions. Within the department, the People and Places Directorate supports the CO by providing outstanding Human Resources services and brilliant workplaces.

It is an exciting time to join the Cabinet Office (CO). The occupational health team and adjustments team have recently merged to form a single entity that aims to support employees and managers in occupational health matters and in the implementation of Workplace adjustments. We expect an upward trend in the team’s breadth and depth of support provided to staff and managers.

For 2024 and beyond, our aim is to further strengthen the arrangements we have in place for operational delivery; secure enhanced contract management arrangements; establish and implement a communications strategy; and seek out engagement opportunities with public sector organisations.

The Workplace adjustments case manager will play a pivotal role in the implementation of our aims.

Responsibilities include and not limited to:

Operational delivery:

  • To proactively monitor the team’s mailbox for requests received.
  • Respond to requests for advice promptly.
  • Triage requests and organise meetings where necessary to discuss the implementation of adjustments.
  • Meet with managers and their employees to determine how adjustments will be implemented.
  • Coordinate the implementation of adjustments with internal and external stakeholders ensuring the team’s case management system is updated to reflect actions taken.
  • In consultation with the head of operational delivery, regularly review progress of cases and complete agreed actions escalating where appropriate.

Communications:

  • Regularly review and update intranet guidance to reflect the team’s current operating model; organise promotional events for the Department’s workforce; and develop and create survey forms to capture user experiences.

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Contribute to the creation of dashboards to report the team’s performance to the senior leaders and committees.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences and ideas.
  • Stakeholders include: the Department’s disability networks; the civil service Workplace adjustments network; other public sector organisations.

Finance:

  • Maintain accurate records on spend on adjustments and report spend on a regular basis.

Review and audit:

  • Contribute to six monthly reviews of the team operating model to identify areas of success and improvement; and support in the implementation of recommendations to improve the team’s position.
