Workshop Assistant- Trainee Installation Technician

Main Duties

Downers specialise in the manufacture and design of bespoke handmade, curtains, blinds and soft furnishings individually tailored to our client’s specifications.

We work with some of the leading interior designers and architects, undertaking private commissions, making and installing unique drapery treatments for windows in exclusive residences, boutique hotels, super-yachts and restaurants around the world.

We are currently recruiting for a new position

Workshop Assistant

To provide general support across the Production Department and Installations Department. Preparing equipment, and ensuring the installations team have all the necessary hardware to carry out a job delivering the highest quality in the most efficient and cost effective manner

-Manage and administer the ‘Goods In’

-Check-in hardware

-Hardware Preparation of hardware required for each project

-Liaise with freelance installers

-Outworker Preparation of fabrics and Delivery of goods

-Roman Blind Assembly

-Management of the workshop, organisation and tidying/ storage

-Recycling organisation

-Deliveries and collection from various suppliers and clients

-Basic grasp of IT systems

-Basic administration

-Keep the workshop tidy and organised at all times

-Stock control

Working within a team of in house installers and contracted fitters. This role is required to liaise heavily with the Production and Project Management team.

Skills and Experience Required

Interest in DIY/ carpentry /fabrics /metalwork – creative

Hardworking with a flexible approach

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Highly organised

Team player

IT skills

General interest in interiors

Full driving licence
