Platt Hall is an 18th century house and former costume museum in Platt Fields Park. As part of Manchester Art Gallery, it is currently the focus of an exciting redevelopment project to create a new kind of museum and creative space. We are working with the communities of Rusholme, Moss Side, Fallowfield and Longsight to make this historic local landmark a place where collections, creativity and culture come together as a tool for social equality.
Young people make up a large percentage of the population here and are key to the success of this project. Situated within the Platt Hall Team, the new post of Young People’s Engagement Co-ordinator will assess what is critically needed for young people in this neighbourhood through partnership with youth agencies and other local providers. They will undertake an active research project, working with young people from the local area to help us better understand their needs and wants. They will advocate for youth voice in the development of Platt Hall as a dynamic and inclusive neighbourhood space. And they will work with the wider teams to contribute to the development of best practice in youth work across Manchester Art Gallery’s programmes.
If you would like any further information about the role, we will be holding an information sharing session online and in person at Platt Hall on Tuesday 12 March. Please contact Liz Mitchell on [email protected] for more details. Interviews will be at Platt Hall on Wednesday 17 April.
