We have an exciting opportunity available for you to work as a Youth Offending Service Social Worker, working closely with family, schools and other relevant key agencies to address the factors leading to offending and representing the Youth Offending Service (YOS) to secure better outcomes for young people. Responsibilities of this role:
- Completing risk assessments and planning how to manage future risk.
- Preparing pre-sentence reports for the courts, based on risk assessments.
- Coming up with action plans (‘interventions’) to support young offenders and prevent them from re-offending.
- Working closely with families, schools and other relevant key agencies.
- Representing the Youth Offending Service at relevant multiagency forums.
- Working with young people with complex needs, challenging their attitudes and behaviours, in an appropriate and positive manner.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and IT literate and ensure high quality recording on YOS case management system.
- An ability to work on your own initiative and manage competing demands when under pressure and awareness of own strengths and area for development and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to challenge young people, their attitudes and behaviours, in an appropriate and positive manner and a commitment to working in partnership with young people, their parents/carers and others involved in the young person’s life.
- Adept at working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and across organisational boundaries.
Requirements for this role:
- Qualified and registered Social Work England Social Worker
- Experience in working with young individuals with complex needs and families demonstrates your profound grasp of the relevant legislation and the intricacies of Youth Offending.
- Full UK driving licence and a car.
- Ability to pass a DBS check.
