Job description

Pastoral Assistant and Mentor

Location: Southwest London

Are you passionate about supporting the well-being and personal development of secondary school students? Do you have a heart for mentorship and guiding young individuals toward success?

Your local school needs your help. These days we hear a lot over the news about how badly the youth community is acting with awful gang violence and weapon carrying.

It takes a community to help with this issue which is why I am posting this job advert for people who can communicate with the secondary-age pupils who are close to them and ideally guide them into further education.

The aim is to get influencers within the schools and not on their phones. Build confidence within them to aspire and achieve. If this is a job ad that you think you can do then please get in touch.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Pastoral Assistant and Mentor in Southwest London.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Support:
    • Provide one-on-one and group mentoring to students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
    • Assist in the identification and resolution of students' personal and social challenges.

  2. Behavioral Intervention:
    • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to address and manage student behavior.

  3. Parental Engagement:
    • Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding students' progress and well-being.
    • Organize and participate in parent meetings or workshops related to pastoral care.
  4. Record Keeping:
    • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of interactions and interventions with students.
    • Compile reports on the progress and challenges of mentored students.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the school's pastoral team to implement effective strategies for student support.
    • Collaborate with teachers and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, counselling, education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a pastoral or mentoring role within a secondary school setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathetic and compassionate with a genuine interest in the well-being of students.
