Description

We're recruiting now for enthusiastic, supportive and resilient people to join our new home in Derbyshire!

Working in our residential children’s homes At Homes2Inspire means working for a dedicated team providing nurturing and supportive environments for young people in our care. We are committed to helping build a brighter future for our young people by offering stability, guidance, and pathways to becoming well-rounded adults – and our support staff are there every step of the way!

The nature of the role varies in pace, and you will be working directly with vulnerable young people who have adverse backgrounds and require a trauma-informed nurturing environment. For some young people, the behaviours caused by previous trauma can mean that it is too risky for them to live with others, and smaller homes with higher staffing ratios are required to ensure that young people in need have a place to call home and the support system in place to work through difficult emotions and behaviours.

If you are passionate about helping young people reach their full potential and believe you have the qualities we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Homes2Inspire are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults

The Role:

As a Youth Support Worker (Trauma-Informed), you will play a crucial role in the lives of young people who require social, emotional, and mental health support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day care and support to young people.
  • Assisting in daily routines to ensure their well-being.
  • Assist with daily living activities and medication administration as required.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic care.
  • Organising and participating in recreational activities.
  • Creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building positive nurturing relationships with vulnerable young people with complex needs.
  • Empower and motivate young people to achieve their goals and overcome difficult emotions and behaviours.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the home.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for the young people in your care.
  • Commitment to personal wellbeing and healthy reflective practice.

What you’ll bring:

  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in young people’s lives.
  • A willingness to work towards or current qualification in QCF level 3 in Residential Childcare.
  • Previous experience providing emotional and behavioural support in a professional setting is highly desirable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet operational needs of the home
  • Positive role model – honesty and empathy are a must.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to have a meaningful impact on the lives of young people
  • 3 weeks of off-the-job training with an extensive training course and support to prepare you for the role
  • Funded opportunity to achieve QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification
  • Continued professional development opportunities
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Attendance bonus scheme offers earning potential of an additional £1400 per annum
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays with increases with length of service (up to 33 days after 5 years’ service) and ability to purchase additional annual leave
  • Awards & Recognition - From Long Service Awards to Non-Absence Awards, we recognise the hard work and effort our people put and ensure we reward where we can
  • Medicash - claim back an annual cost of everyday healthcare, such as dental, optical treatment and specialist treatment for yourself and your family members

  • Shaw Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early if sufficient applications are received.
  • Ofsted regulations outline that Support Workers working with children and young people must be 3 years older than the oldest young person within the home e.g., if a young person in the home was turning 18, you would need to be 21 at a minimum.
