Fixed-Term: for 12 months
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to work on a project targeting oligoadenylate synthetases (OAS1/2) to overcome treatment resistance in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). First-hand experience of protein purification, in vitro enzyme assays and mammalian cell culture would be of a particular advantage.
The Opportunity:
The successful candidate will be based in Prof. Kathryn Ball’s laboratory in the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre within the Institute of Genetics and Cancer, and will work with Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr Ashita Singh. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in original project combining in vivo and in vitro approaches including biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture and drug discovery.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Experience in biochemistry. (protein purification, in vitro enzyme assays)
Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques.
Evidence of meticulous record keeping and a rigorous attitude to research work.
Excellent planning and communication skills.
