Fixed-term, Part-time: Guaranteed Hours (113 GH hours)
The Psychology Department in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking a part time Research Assistant on a fixed term, guaranteed hours contract for 113 hours until 31 st of July 2024. This post is expected to commence in February 2024.
The Opportunity:
We are recruiting a Research Assistant to work with Prof Sue Widdicombe, Dr Cristina Marinho and Dr Rahul Sambaraju on a project, ‘Public Engagement with Climate News’. Overall, it is concerned with public engagement in climate change news through social media in four countries: UK, India, Portugal, and Brazil. The pilot study will test feasibility by identifying a number of suitable climate change news reports on popular TV channels as targets of engagement.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Undergraduate or MSc degree in a social science, Linguistics, or a language discipline.
- Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese and English.
- Proven ability to translate written data from Portuguese to English.
- Knowledge of and interest in climate change news.
- Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms (e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram).
- Be reliable, consistent, a good worker and a good communicator.
