INTO City University on London have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Academic Manager to join their Academic team.
As an Academic Manager, you will be overseeing English for Academic Purposes, Employability, Study Skills and Research modules. You will also oversee English programmes including the Pres-sessional English and sponsored programmes; and the implementation of the Personal Tutorial system.
You will work with the Senior Management Team to provide first class academic and pastoral provision for all students within the parameters of the agreed educational, commercial and recruitment targets.
Key Accountabilities and Duties:
- Manage a team of teachers in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Plan and implement student academic improvement measures – review transcripts, progress reports and monitor students’ academic improvement plans.
- Design, monitor and review student interventions to ensure efficient delivery of student support to increase attainment and progression.
- Manage the allocation of students and teaching resource to ensure quality provision with an understanding of the commercial imperatives and financial targets.
- To oversee the design and delivery of academic programmes and relevant modules, ensuring the tasks, quality and deadlines are met for each programme/module.
- Monitor student attainment and performance across all subject and programme areas as required.
- Liaise with the Academic Director to ensure necessary texts and teaching materials, software and licenses are procured, catalogued and securely maintained.
- Responsible for the induction, development and performance management of teaching staff.
- Communicate and implement key policies and decisions to direct report staff.
- Assist with internal and external quality assurance processes and programme validation. Take responsibility for ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Provide leadership and role model behaviour on the pastoral care of students (including delivering verbal and written warnings and running student induction sessions).
- Ensure that the learning and teaching continues to meet students’ needs and contribute to curriculum development as necessary.
- Liaise with the student services teams to ensure the best student experience, highlighting any student of concern matters.
About You:
You will have Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a relevant teaching qualification, e.g., PGCE, PG Cert, DELTA.
Experience of working within UK higher education and the needs and requirements of international students.
Experience of line managing teaching staff.
