A GBP2bn, 10-year pipeline of projects, based from Head Office in East London.
We are recruiting an Accountant for a large end Client who are embarking on a major piece of work with HS2 & Network Rail. We are ideally looking for someone who has 3 to 4 years experience as a qualified accountant.
In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The Accountant also assists in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis to support the company's operations.
This will be a challenging and diverse role and you will form part of the leadership team across the programme of work, reporting into a CFO and working collaboratively with your colleagues across finance functions.
Key responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Process financial transactions, such as invoices, payments, and expenses.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial data in the accounting system.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate financial reports for management, providing insights on financial performance and key financial indicators.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgeting.
3. Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare project budgets and monitor actual costs against budgeted amounts.
- Analyze project expenditures and variances, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in cost allocation and cost tracking for various construction projects.
4. Tax Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including preparation and submission of tax returns.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and provide required documentation and information.
5. Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, such as profitability analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and investment appraisal.
- Prepare financial models and scenarios to evaluate business strategies and potential investments.
6. Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency in financial operations.
