Accounts Assistant required. Our client is an award-winning chartered accountancy practice based in Surrey, and have a range of clients based in London and South East of England. Our client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their growing and friendly team. Their client base ranges from business and personal clients from start-up to turnover of up to £20m. Initially, this is an office-based role and after a satisfactory probation period suitable candidate can work from home one day per week so the suitable candidate must live within an 8-mile radius of Ashtead.
Accounts Assistant - Position Overview
- Prepare accounts from client's records for companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns, mainly for limited companies - this could be standard VAT accounting or Flat Rate Scheme. This involves working with spreadsheets, Sage or Cloud based software in particular Xero
- Prepare business tax computations to identify the taxable business profits, including correctly claiming tax relief on fixed assets and disallowing relevant items
- Input data into the Personal Tax Module using a checklist of items to watch for. Then mark sections of the Tax Return programme as complete
- Draft covering letters enclosing accounts and business tax computations to clients
- Draft supporting paperwork to go with a set of accounts - e.g. Minutes of meetings of directors/Letter of representation/Invoice/Notes & Recommendations/Fixed Price Agreements
- Contact with clients to resolve / deal with any queries
- Some tax planning regarding extraction of funds from a company in the most tax efficient manner. Implement some tax planning strategies for sole traders and partnerships too with appropriate training
- Prepare invoices using our software and help with the renewal of fixed price agreements and tracking profit on jobs
- Update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Limited help on occasions with social media marketing, the website or mailshots
Accounts Assistant - Position Requirements
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
- Excellent interpersonal skills so able to communicate to the team & clients
- Good IT skill - so can deal well with Cloud/Outlook/ Excel /Word
- Good basic understanding of accounting standards /FRSs for accounts
- Recent relevant experience in an accountancy practice is important (1.5 years or more)
- Experience of IRIS/Xero is desirable
- Part, or fully qualified AAT (Level 3 minimum), ACCA or ACA
Accounts Assistant - Position Remunerations
- £24,500-£32,000 (dependant on experience)
