About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team in Looe, Cornwall. This role will primarily focus on covering purchase ledger, sales ledger, and supplier payments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to take on a couple of additional responsibilities to contribute to the smooth running of our finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the purchase ledger by accurately processing invoices, reconciling statements, and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Handle the sales ledger, including issuing invoices, monitoring payments, and chasing outstanding debts to ensure timely receipt.
- Process supplier payments accurately and within agreed terms, verifying invoices and preparing payment runs.
- Assist with month-end procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations, to support the finance team as required.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports and records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Monitor and manage petty cash transactions, reconciling balances and maintaining accurate records.
- Provide support to the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to contribute to team objectives.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant role or similar position, with knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and supplier payments.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
