A Japanese manufacturer is currently recruiting an Accounts Assistant to cover maternity leave on a FTC.
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for maintaining cashbooks, posting receipts and payments in the Sales and Purchase Ledgers in a timely manner, and keeping accurate and up to date records.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a minimum 4 years’ experience in Accounts related roles, experience in manufacturing, and qualification to AAT Level 3 or above, or be studying other accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA).
ROLE TYPE: Fixed Term Contract, full-time
WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday 8am~4pm (35 hours per week)
SALARY: £30-35k, depending on experience
CONTRACT PERIOD: From 1st May 2024 (earlier start available, possibly from 15th April 2024) to at least the end of August 2025 (TBC, There is a possibility for extension or becoming permanent.)
LOCATION: Surrey (There is a possibility of hybrid working (2 days per week in the office) once the probation period is successfully completed, determined by Finance Dept work schedule
Accounts AssistantMail Responsibilities:
• Cashbooks Management
• Maintain cashbooks, post receipts and payments in Sales and Purchase Ledgers, in a timely manner to keep accurate and up to date records
• Post nominal entries for cash transactions and as instructed
• Check supplier statements and communicate with the Purchasing Dept. and suppliers as necessary
• Monthly Bank Reconciliations on all bank accounts
• Generating reports from accounting software
• Create BACS payment instructions as required for authorization
• Generate and send remittance advices
• Manage petty cash in foreign currencies and its records
Accounts Assistant Ideal Candidate:
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in similar finance role required, preferably in similar size companies and experience in manufacturing
• Qualification to AAT Level 3 or above, or studying other accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA).
• Intermediate level of MS Office package, including Excel
• Self-proficient with strong work ethic and good organisational skills
• Self-motivation to work unassisted when required
• Self-confidence and diplomacy to liaise internally & externally
• Ability to make decisions based on information gathered
• Ability to prioritise work with efficiency and accuracy
• Ability to use initiative and promote continuous improvement
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organization and team members
• Flexible attitude to work with willingness to assist with tasks beyond regular responsibilities
• Good accounting skills of double entry bookkeeping to bank reconciliation
• Good IT skills
• Professional telephone and written business communication skills
• Ability to present written information in a structured and balanced way appropriate to the needs of the reader
