Located in Temple Guiting (GL54), on the outskirts of Cheltenham, this is an office-based role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the smooth running of the accounting function for the company.
Some of the responsibilities of your role will include:
- · Ensuring timely and accurate sales invoices are issued to customers and receipts are correctly posted
- · Credit control including dealing with customers directly to agree payment terms
- · Processing of purchase invoices
- · Keeping financial records organised and easy to access
- · Supplier statement reconciliations
- · Supplier payments
- · Regular review of suppliers, ensuring pricing is the most competitive and at acceptable quality standards
- · Bank transaction processing
- · Bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts across multiple entities
- · Month end tasks including posting journals, control account reconciliations and the preparation of management accounts
- · Management of racing in syndicates
- · Monthly payroll preparation, filing and payments
- · Maintenance of staff records, including, amongst others, absenteeism, holiday etc.
- · Preparation and submission of the quarterly VAT returns with the assistance of the external accountant
- · Liaising with other teams to ensure that the above duties are carried accurately, and customer/supplier issues are resolved in a timely manner
- · Handling highly confidential and sensitive information
- · Assist with telephone calls at busy times in the office
The Person:
- · Must have working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and Sage payroll packages
- · Must have an understanding of the payroll system, filing requirements and basic HR
- · Must have working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
- · Must have good numeracy skills
- · Be Qualified to AAT Level 2 or qualified by experience
- · Should be able to interpret and communicate monthly management figures with the owners and managers
- · Should have previous experience in an accounting / bookkeeping role
- · Should have exceptional organisation skills
- · Should have a professional telephone manner and strong written communication skills for communications with customer, staff and suppliers
- · Should have the ability to prioritise workload
- · Ability to work with the minimum of supervision
- · Should be confident working in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment
- · Should carry effective organisation and planning skills
