Administrator – Education, Training and Qualifications team
It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. We have an opportunity within the Education, Training and Qualifications team for an Administrator.
This role is varied, with significant contact with members of the Law Society, trainee solicitors and students. This role is the first point of contact for solicitors who wish to become accredited as specialists in one of 30 subjects and administers the assessment process using an online process. The role will liaise with applicants and the panel members who assess each application throughout the assessment process and confirm the decision to applicant.
The role also manages the schedule of appointments for solicitors to complete the process of being admitted as a notary public by completing the declaration of faithful administration, and ensures the associated documentation is uploaded to the solicitors’ record. In addition, the role involves providing general administrative support to colleagues in the team who deal with the regulatory processes relating to training to become a solicitor. This aspect of the role also involves regular contact with members of the Law Society, trainee solicitors and students, explaining the stages of the regulatory process to them, processing online applications and updating their records.

Key Responsibilities for this role
- To be the first point of contact for solicitors enquiring about accreditation as specialists
- To administer the processes for accreditation of solicitors as specialists.
- To administer the process for solicitors to complete their admission as a notary public.
- To assist with processes relating to the regulation of trainee solicitors.
- To assist with general enquiries received by telephone and email.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be expected by the Executive Director of Education, Training and Qualifications.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience of a customer focused environment
- Previous administration experience
- Competence in use of Microsoft Office products
- Effective communication skills
- Able to read, understand, communicate and act on complex sets of information.
- National Grade 5 English or equivalent
- National 4 Grade Maths or equivalent
